About Us

In 1992, the National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) revolutionized the barrel racing industry by forming and utilizing the divisional format. For the first time, winning was in reach for the beginner through the advanced racer. What was once the very large district of NC01, was geographically divided in half and NC07 was formed in the spring of '98. Fred Smith was named District Director, a position he holds to this day. He's assisted by his wife, Linda, and together they've worked tirelessly to expand and improve NC07.

District NC07 typically averages just under 100 members, but those members are 100% dedicated to barrel racing at it's finest. Our district is very family oriented and it's not uncommon to have several generations of the same family participating, supporting each other and all their friends. NBHA offers a chance to compete for all age groups; we have a Pee Wee division, Youth division, Senior division, and an Open division. We would welcome you to come out and join us.
